Isokan Yoruba Ottawa Adopt-a-Road Initiative

Caring for Our Community, One Road at a Time

Isokan Yoruba Ottawa is proud to partner with the City of Ottawa through the Adopt-a-Road initiative. As part of our commitment to service, unity, and the Omoluabi values we cherish, we have adopted a 2-kilometre stretch of Walkley Road — from the MacEwen/Quickie Gas Station at the intersection of Heron and Walkley to Bank Street. This initiative reflects our dedication to community engagement, environmental responsibility, and giving back to the city we call home.

Our Mission

The Adopt-a-Road initiative brings together members of Isokan Yoruba Ottawa, especially our youth, to keep Ottawa clean, safe, and welcoming. Through regular cleanup efforts, we aim to:

  • Promote environmental awareness and responsibility

  • Encourage youth leadership and volunteerism

  • Strengthen community spirit and civic pride

  • Demonstrate our commitment to service and collective action

Next Community Cleanup

Our next cleanup exercise will be led by our youth on:

  • Saturday, May 23, 2026
  • 11:00 AM – 12:20 PM ET
  • Walkley Road, Ottawa
Why It Matters

At Isokan Yoruba Ottawa, we believe that community service is a powerful way to live out our shared values. By participating in this initiative, we are not only helping to maintain a cleaner environment, but also building a culture of responsibility, unity, and meaningful contribution.

This effort is one more step in strengthening our connection to Ottawa while proudly reflecting the spirit of our Yoruba heritage.
